akt launches pathfinder, a new project in greater manchester akt and Greater Manchester Better Outcomes Partnerships (GMBOP) have created a programme for young people in Bury, Trafford, and Wigan so that they can have one-to-one contact with an akt caseworker who knows and understands the LGBTQ+ community. —---- Caseworkers will centre their approach around individual young people and create a support plan that reflects the wants and needs of young people. This could include things like financial support packs, and support with maintaining tenancies or finding suitable accommodation. We also want to help LGBTQ+ young people find opportunities to engage with volunteering, community activities and LGBTQ+ groups. We understand that young people might at first be unused to the benefits system so will provide assistance with accessing benefits and education support with budgeting. We will also ensure that young people have resources to access wellbeing and mental health services. —---- Referral Criteria Young people who are aged between 16-25 who identify as LGBTQ+ living in Bury, Trafford, or Wigan boroughs. Young people who are at risk of homelessness – including financial instability or debt, risk of eviction, relationship breakdowns or unstable/insecure accommodation.
