why akt? because no young person should have to choose between a safe home and being who they are.

We are the national LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity; focused on prevention and early action we provide: safe homes, mentoring, training, advocacy and support to young people who are homeless or living in a hostile environment after coming out to their parents, care givers and peers.

Nationally: Online support service

Regionally: Service Centres in North West, North East, Bristol and London providing homes, mentoring, training and support.

akt is constantly working to ensure:

  • Our Services reach and meet the needs of their target audience
  • Youth inclusion underpins all development and delivery at akt
  • LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness is recognized as the primary LGBTQ+ rights issue
  • We are positioned as the National Youth Homelessness Charity
  • We improve the experience of akt for all our stakeholders
