I lived in a village with hardly any buses and I just felt trapped. Since I moved into akt's Purple Door accommodation, life has changed completely.

"The biggest thing is being able to see other friends who are trans, and being independent so I don’t have to take grief off other people for being who I am.

I’ve learnt how to seek help from others and enjoy doing things such as going to the gym to workout.

I’m so much more confident now, I’m even thinking about going into work or learning and I never thought I’d do that.

I’m really grateful to akt for giving me a lease of life, thank you!"

We believe no young person should have to choose between a safe home and being who they are. If you'd like to support our work with young LGBTQ+ people facing or experiencing homelessness, click here.
